Phylis's Broccoli Salad

I have served this salad for the last 15 years. My family had gotten tired of steamed broccoli and I thought this up for a change of pace. This makes a beautiful Christmas salad.

Ingredients:

  • 1 or 2 heads Broccoli
  • 3 or 4 (more if desired) green onions "chopped"
  • 1 large tomato diced
  • 1/2 cup of mayonaise
  • 5 tablespoons sugar or to taste
  • dash of salt pepper to taste
Slice fettes, continue slicing back to stalk. Chop about 1/3 down into stalk. Be sure to chop the stalk into small pieces. I don't use the bottom for the salad as I find it a little tough. Combine all ingredients and chill. This salad is similar to cole slaw, but with a totally vibrant taste. Note: When I make this salad when we bar-b-que, I take the bottom of the stalk and slice it thin. I then marinate it and toast it on the grill when we cook the meat along with other veggies.
