Glamorous Designer Gloves

Make your own designer gloves with these simple fabric paint techniques.

Gloves are such a fun accessory to embellish and to wear. I use them all the time, it makes your outfit. My grandmother used them all the time, and i guess i got that from her. So i'm going to show you how we can take a very plain pair and embellish them and make them look wonderful. Let's start. I have this very simple pair of pink gloves that i got very inexpensively. You can get these just about anywhere. And i've mixed colors using this fabric paint. And you can get this at any craft store. And i put them in little canisters. I have green and red and pink and a little bit of white. And i'm using a very small brush. And we're going to learn to paint rosebuds. So i'm just wetting my brush, getting it a little bit dry. And i'm starting with this green paint. Because i'm going to do all of my stems first. This is really easy 'cause it spaces out your flowers. Think of it as little eyebrows and space them out evenly. And i'm giving them lots of air between each one. And i don't think you have to paint the back. I just paint the front 'cause that's what everybody's gonna see. And say, "whoa, where did you get those gloves ?" i'm going all the way up the fingertips. This is very quick. And then i'm done with my green, and i can go right into my next color. Just wash it off, get your brush nice and dry. And the next color i'm going to be using is a little bit of white combined with the pink, so you'll get a multi-shade, and that's really pretty, too. So here i am with my pink rosebuds. And i'm feeling like i need a little more white in there. I still have the pink on there, and that's okay. Just going right into the white, and you're gonna have two colors. And that gives you gradation, and that is so pretty. Okay, so i have my rosebuds and my stems. And now i'm going to add my leaves... Just like that. And now for the finishing detail, i'm going to add a little bit of red. And i have that mixed in. And this again is the fabric paint. And i'll put just a dot of color. And see how that finishes it off ? Makes it look so much prettier. And then our next step is to let it dry. We have it up to this step right here. Keep your cardboard right in there. And we're just simply going to fold up that glove like this. Easy. This is a stretch lace. And we are going to add a little piece of this stretch lace all the way around. And we're going to use a little fabric tack. Fabric tack is a wonderful source. So i'm just gonna finish off by putting this lace all the way around like so. I'm gonna leave a little bit of extra here and fold it under so you have a nice, neat edge. So i'll use a little more of the fabric tack. All right, so now i have it. I'm going to fold this down. I'm gonna turn it over. And i'm saying to myself, well, that's pretty and the lace is pretty, but it doesn't quite tie together. I'm gonna try something completely different. And we're just gonna take the sharpie marker. We have this black trim. I wanna tie the black into the rest of the glove. I'm simply gonna outline, very gently, very quickly. I'm just going around, i'm giving 'em some dots. Going down the fingers. And i think i'm done, and there we are.
