Try an easy technique with spring stickers to create graduated pages.
But, first, let's see how we make our scrapbooks spring to life with
stickers from andrea grossman, from mrs. Grossman's paper company. She's
here to show us these wonderful spring-themed wedding albums. Welcome,
andrea. Thank you. Well, you have something that i-- i'm just learning
about them today, and i am in love with this idea of graduated pages.
They're a lot of fun. Here is the example that we're gonna make today.
Yes, this is it. Okay, and it's called "graduated" because--
because the pages are different lengths, different heights, so that you
have this whole beautiful spread, and then each page has its own individuality.
I see, it's graduation, so, here is the first page. Is this what you're
calling "page one" ? We call this page one. Okay, and page two--
two, and page three. And, oh, even the backs are beautiful. I just can't
wait to learn how to do this. Well, it's so simple. Would you like to
know how ? I would like to know, how would we start ? Easy, first of all,
you get your photographs out, and you choose the colors from your photograph,
before you ever get your favorite color of paper out. On this particular
sequence of photographs, i thought the pink and the soft lavender and
the soft green were appropriate, so i chose those three colors. Now, i'm
going to start by cutting my pages and decorating them. Now, when you
use this technique, you'd think you start with page one, but, no, you
start with page three because page three is going to have your largest
element on it. And then you'll be cutting away from that element to add
the elements in front. If you start in front, you'd start covering things
up, and you'd just have to figure out what to do at the end. Oh, you might
end up at the end, and you wouldn't have a page big enough. Yes, we're
gonna have a happy ending this way. That's the sorta thing i would do
too. So we'll start with page three-- so we're gonna start with page three,
and we're just gonna decorate it very simply with this beautiful florentine
laser-cut sticker, this is the paper whispers, i love these stickers.
They look so dainty, but, you know, they're very tough. So we just put
it down, take a little minute to get it centered and looking good on the
page, it looks beautiful already. I know, look at that ! Oof, i love it,
i love it, i love it, you pretty, little thing. Now, that's pretty, but
i think it would be even better if i chose one of these soft colors to
accent it, to give another color to the page, so i'm gonna choose one
of these pink slivers. Now, are they called "slivers" ? That's
'cause, look at them, they are slivers. Oh, that's a great name. Isn't
that great ? Yep, very descriptive. So they don't make a lot of commotion,
but they're very beautiful. So i'm just gonna place that under, so i have
a little bit of green showing. And i'm just gonna very carefully run that
across the page, so it's like a nice, little border ? Isn't that lovely
? Oh, that's wonderful. And then i can cut off any excess from the back.
So, now that, you did that page three ? So that's page three, now, to
make page two, i want to see exactly where i want that page to fall, so
i put the edge of the page up against here. I want a little green to show,
so i'm gonna measure from here to here, and then cut page two in my paper
trimmer to that size, and then i'll decorate page two-- now, here's page
three, and two, and even one. Right, and this is page two, where we just
again put that very soft paper, keeping our color scheme going. And we
decorated the top of the page with stickers coming off the page, so that
when they lay-- but now how do you keep this from sticking to this beautiful
thing on the back ? Well, like this. We have mirror image in our mind,
you know ? Oh, you know, that's right. I've used them for, like, hanging
elements, but it never occurred to me that you could decorate the fronts
and the backs of the pages. We have to because when it's in the book,
you want it to look beautiful from the back too. Oh, that's great. And
we do have the mirror images, so you can actually do that very simply.
Now, i noticed that on page one, well, i'll go back to here, to this finished
one, page one, you have this wonderful label in the bottom, now, is this
also a sticker ? That certainly is, but it's backed by some of the green
paper from page three. See how we're keeping our color scheme ? So we've
cut a small piece of paper from page three, of that stock, and put one
of our beautiful paper whisper labels over it, like so, and i finished
it with a little rose from the same sheet with the other roses on them.
And that's our title, the date of the wedding. I see, and that's where
you've, like, journaled inside ? Oh, it's absolutely gorgeous. So, page
one, let's see page one over here. Now you can see the whole sequence,
and, again, we very carefully measure and cut by the way we want page
one to look on top of page two... It is so beautiful. ... And page three.
And i noticed on this one that you even cut the page protector, so that
you don't have the extra plastic up here. This is beautiful. Now, this
is for a spring-themed wedding, but i noticed that you've done the graduation
pages over here from the side, and then look at this, i love this wonderful
journal, from a vacation to greece. Is this not the coolest thing ? Look
at this. It's so wonderful. Oh, andrea, i just can't thank you enough.
I am excited to go home and try this.
