Urn vintage plates, whole or broken, into funky and fancy home decor.
It is trash to treasure time, and that means it's time to start looking
for vintage plates because we've got great ideas on what to do with a
cupboard full of these. ??? And what better way to start than with a dessert
tray? Very cute. Start and end dessert tray. I like that... That's really
fresh looking. Thanks. What we did was take three different plates that
we found at a salvage center and put them together. They are threaded
with lamp parts. Really? Yeah, really inexpensive lamp parts. You can
see the base here is just a lamp piece, incredibly inexpensive. Love the
chrome edge to it. It gives it that real contemporary... Chrome is doing
really well now stylewise. I like the juxtaposition of the classic-looking
plates with the chrome. It's very nice. Thanks. If you've got a couple
of plates that don't fit the whole surface, turn it into wall sconces.
Yeah. The idea here is basically adding another element to a wall that's
not a picture, but in a way, it's adding art to your wall because the
prints here that you find on many of these really are beautiful, and when
you get 'em on a wall, they become this different element. Literally,
it's a drill bit... You go right through the ceramic, and you add on the
attachment, which you can find at a building center. You can. You can
find these at a building center or even a craft store. Inexpensive, but
again, it makes a great usable piece of art for a wall. Finally, a mosaic
decorative tray. You got it. Very cool... Look, you can't eat off it,
but i'd be tempted. You got it... The permanent place setting. Completely
decorative, but a fun look. The idea came from a tray that i saw in a
very high-end store in new york, and i can't remember exactly, but it
was like $600. Oh, my gosh. It was an astronomical price point, and so
we just basically took an existing tray, we then found the plate that
we wanted, we sharded that, and we also took some mirror. Wait, you sharded
it? Sharded it... You broke it. We broke it. It's that sophistication.
The $600 word for broken plate is shard. Don't just break it... Shard
it. We set those all into place. We actually replicated the two serving
utensils, and that was it. It's a simple project really to do. It's just
the concept, i think, is very high style.
